Spring Cleaning is in Full Swing at the O-Bar-O!

With the Summer season rapidly approaching, Maria & Mike have pulled out all the stops getting the O-Bar-O ready for our Guests this year. Maria even enlisted the help of her Dad, Herb Jones. Believe you me, she didn’t give him any slack just because he is her Dear Old Dad!!!! Upon arriving in Durango Herb was a given a long list of chores including staining all the decks and washing windows. Herb complied and even whistled while he worked.
Many thanks to Herb for all his hard work. I sure hope Maria & Mike took you out to dinner … a bunch!

March Madness O-Bar-O style!

We are wholeheartedly jumping into the spirit of March Madness … well, our version of March Madness that is! When each party checks in during the month of March you will get an opportunity to win a prize. Dig into our prize bowl and you could pull out one of the following: our signature mugs or our signature Green Tea & Lemongrass shampoo & conditioner, possibly a pine cone candle or a leather photo album. For the outdoorsman or woman we have fly fishing mug sets, leather bound fly fishing logs and Kalahari fishing hats. Don’t worry wine lovers we have you covered too … you have a chance to pull out a pewter deer or fish wine stopper.

Take advantage of our winter rates and remember until April 30th, if you stay three nights with us the fourth night is compliments of the O-Bar-O.

B & B for Vets

The O-Bar-O Cabins is proud to be taking part in this nationwide program again this year in honoring our vets & active service military personnel with a free night on November 10. Innkeepers throughout North America say thank you to those who’ve served their country by inviting veterans to wake up on 11-11-11 in an inn or B&B.

This program was started in West Virginia in 2008 and has grown each year across the USA and Canada. Although the Inns involved are all different – the premise is the same – a free night’s stay for active or retired military personnel. Here at the O-Bar-O we consider this a small way we can say ‘Thank you!’ for all that our service men and women do for our great country everyday.

With a Whirlwind of Activity Summer has Flown by!

Seasons are changing here at the O-Bar-O.  Shorter days and cooler weather herald the coming of Autumn. It would seem the aspen trees are spinning their golden hues just for our pleasure and life seems to take on a more relaxed pace. Time for spiced cider & pumpkin bread, leisurely strolls along the river and evenings enjoying the fire.

Winter rates kick in October 15th!

Turning a Sow’s Ear into a Silk Purse ….

It’s been a challenging Spring so far here at the O-Bar-O. A late winter break to our water line caused us to dig up the front yards of most of our cabins but no worries … we are not taking it lying down!

This is an incredible opportunity to “Spruce Up” our landscaping and that’s exactly what we’re doing!!!!!

In the next few weeks we will be busy sodding yards, planting perennials & Summer blossoms. Guests will even find herbs growing in their very own patio gardens. So stay tuned for some before & after pics …

Happy Mother’s Day to all our friends from the O-Bar-O.

New O-Bar-O Cabins Website & Blog

We are pleased to announce the launch of our new website and blog from InsideOut Solutions, our website host.  The new website features more in-depth information about our Durango, Colorado cabins and is easier to navigate.  The new blog will allow us to keep our website visitors up-to-date on happenings at O-Bar-O and in the greater Durango, Colorado area.

Welcome to the O-Bar-O

Rustic cabins under the clear Colorado sky. Deer and elk roaming through nearby alpine meadows. Tall pine trees stretching to the horizon. Cool mountain streams bubbling with trout. The O-BAR-O Cabins, situated on the Florida River, has all of this and more. Located just outside Durango, we’re a stone’s throw from the national forest, two large lakes, and horse trail rides. Plus we have the best trout fishing you’ll find in these parts.

At the O-Bar-O you will enjoy:

  • Rustic Cabins – log cabins set in the forest, resting along the banks of the Florida River.
  • River Frontage – all of our cabins have views, or picture windows facing the river.
  • River Fishing – many close by sites
  • Picnic Tables & Barbecue Grills – every cabin has access to these outdoor amenities.
Nothing tastes better than trout cooked outdoors on the grill!
  • Stone Fireplaces – in all cabins! Cuddle up in front of a blazing fire for a romantic evening.
  • Kitchenettes – fully equipped. Save time and money by cooking right in your cabin.
  • Linens & Towels – furnished for you, and exchanged as needed.
  • Recreation – we have a horseshoe pit, volleyball court & enough room to hit a few golf balls.
  • Nature – nightly visits from raccoons, hummingbirds darting past your window, woodpeckers high up in the Ponderosa Pine, red hawks soaring overhead, deer grazing in the fields or drinking from the river and much more wildlife for you to enjoy.
  • Relaxation – lie under the tall pine trees, get comfortable on your redwood deck or relax in our beautiful spa with your eyes closed & the sound of the rushing river in your ears. After all, that’s why you came here, isn’t it?
